ONLINE MASTERING SERVICE
Mastering is the step required to give a mixed track the final finish before it is ready to be released. It is an often misinterpreted part of the production: it is about technique and equipment as much as it is about creativity and good taste in music. We examine the track to correct residual mix problems, improve its character and, most critically, we enhance its loudness to allow the track to compete with the other commercial releases out there. We achieve that by using the best analog equipment as well as a vast range of plugins.
HERE'S HOW OUR SERVICE WORKS:
- Bounce the mixes, removing whatever compression, EQ or any other plugin you have on your master bus
- Leave at least 6dBs of headroom. If necessary pull down your master fader
- Place the order on our system and upload the files from your login area
- After 7-10 working days (or 48h with Rush Service) you receive an Audition File
- then you can send us a list of tweaks if necessary and we’ll revise the master for you.
- when you approve we’ll send you the full quality master
HOW TO GET YOUR MUSIC READY FOR CD DUPLICATION:
The CD duplication process starts with creating a CD master, also known as PMCD (Pre Master CD). This is the time when ISRC codes, Barcodes, CD Text and more metadata gets added. The PMCD then is delivered to the CD duplication as a DDP file. On this video we explain the process:
To get your music ready for CD duplication select the CD Master Option when placing your order.
WHAT IS MASTERING? OUR FULL PODCAST ABOUT IT:
-Inspection for distortion, clipping, digital clicks

-Filtering and equalizing for overall balance and increase perceived loudness
-Phase and mono compatibility check, to ensure good translation to radio, laptop speakers; clubs, car systems, home hi-fi
-Compressing for dynamics consistency
-Limiting to achieve commercially compatible loudness
-Use of high quality algorithms for sample rate conversion and dithering
When you select our "Valve Mixer” option, your music gets mastered through our high quality tube equipment. It is a great choice if you want a particularly rich sound, full of character and with more harmonic content. This option usually results in your music having a warmer, punchier quality to it. It gives you a more colourful texture, more body and more assertiveness to your sound. These characteristics are unique to each valve based processor and are very hard to replicate with plugins.
With the "Tape Master" option you get your track mastered through real tape. Tape is renowned for its ability to provide a warm, round sound, by naturally compressing the material that passes through it and softening digital harshness. Tape processing is more subtle than tube processing, but it has the capacity to make the low end more compact and solid. The top end becomes smooth and silky, like you hear on the music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Used in a more creative way, it can give a track that unique "vintage” vibe that is becoming increasingly more popular in recent times.
