Can a studio desk change your music production life? Yes, absolutely!
Here’s how we use the StudioDesk “Music Commander” to improve our workflow at Doctor Mix.
The Music Commander is a studio workstation desk built with solid lacquered wood, reinforced with a a large number of metal brackets and designed for ergonomics of the highest standard.
We were impressed by it from the moment it was first delivered to our studios as a few boxes containing just a few but very solid components. It came with simple instructions, and was very easy to assemble.
The Full Set Black version we have has high gloss white sides with rubbery silver logos, and black matter finish lacquered work areas (general measures W 1800/ D 840/490 H 1000 mm). These include a long top shelf for speakers, computer monitor and extra gear; a main desk with two angled 4U rack unit on each side with a central opening to accommodate a mixer or control surface; a wheeled keyboard stand (W 1540 D 450 H 676 mm) that can take a full 88 weighted key master keyboard (such as a Yamaha Montage 8); a wheeled 10U rack units Floor Cabinet (W 532 x D 490 H 550 mm). The 3 components slide fluidly one underneath the other, to optimise space when not in use.
With its ergonomic design the Music Commander makes it easy for the modern producer to reach for the most used equipment. No detail is overlooked in its design, from the perfect height of the work area and speaker shelf – allowing for great posture when sitting in front of it, to the cable management system which helps to keep everything tight and elegant.
In fact the whole looks strikingly modern, sophisticated and also a bit imposing… and yet not bulky! In fact we think that StudioDesk have succeeded in the difficult challenge of hitting a perfect balance between style, ergonomics, space economy and price.
